Part of my 1st quarter FAL list was to catch up and keep up on my BOMs. I just received Block 8 for the 2012 Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery BOM and I was still only halfway through Block 5! But I'm proud to announce that I'm halfway to being caught up, and I will have the next 2 finished before I get Block 9!
By the way, this is the pile of "scrap" fabrics leftover so far... I reuse previous months' fabrics until they're all gone so I can keep the new, larger pieces whole:
I've also joined 2 new bees this year, to go along with the Wombat Stew paper pieced bee. One started this month with Jane asking for a Winged Square block:
The other bee technically starts next month, but the first 2 months' queens have already selected their blocks and that means I can get them done and sent before I go away next month!
The final block for this month is Lara's paper pieced teapot. I won this pattern by Amy from During Quiet Time who is also, ironically, the tutorial-er of the Winged Square block! This is such a quick and easy pattern to piece! We were asked to include selvedge and to make the teapot "our own". Can't get much "me" than some Japan selvedge and Kate Spain! Cuzco this time.
Funny story - was originally planning on using one of the purpley prints from Cuzco but the selvedge was red, so I let that determine my colour scheme and went for orange instead! The red is from Little Apples - scraps from my Quick Piece Herringbone blocks!

All your blocks are great! I'd use all the scraps rather than cut into new fabric- makes perfect sense! And that Winged Square block must have taken a long time! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe supplies provided for that BOM are obviously very generous indeed! I'd use them in the same way - makes sense to be frugal! Your blocks are lovely - I will look forward to seeing the completed quilt - downhill to the finishing line now!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I can't wait to see your two blocks for our bee ;) Oh and do the FQS have a block of month club thingy this year?? I'm becoming a little obsessed with this block stuff!
ReplyDeleteINSPIRING AGAIN.. this Vintage by B and C was my favorite fabric last year, I need to get some more, I just have a bit left.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of awesome blocks!
ReplyDeletePretty blocks Alyce!! It must feel good to not only be caught up but moving ahead so you won't be behind while you are visiting.

ReplyDeleteThese all look great. I am really loving that Vintage Modern fabric. I can't wait to start sewing with mine. I can't paper piece (can't get my brain around it) so I am always in awe of those who can. It looks awesome. And really pink and yellow and tiny HST's can't be wrong no matter what.
ReplyDeleteVery nice blocks...love the teapot....really love the fabrics too
ReplyDeleteI love the teapot! Nice projects! And those are not scraps - really generous!
