I don't know why I agreed to this blog hop as I'm not a die-hard fan of EPP... probably because it's such a cool idea and I knew I had to offer up a Japanese input! Even though I'm still not convinced about the supposed joy EPP is... But nevertheless, I agreed, so I did! And I actually enjoyed it in the end, once I stopped procrastinating!
This photo was actually taken 2.5 years ago when we spent a week touring Japan. Back when my nearly-3-year-old son was just a little 6 month old baldy! It's of Okayama Castle, and being spring, the flowers were just beautiful!
I also just loved the palette this photo comes up with as it meant I could pull out my precious Art Gallery Fabrics! Which are sentimental as they were a lucky find purchased here in Japan on our trip to Sendai 2 months ago. As I was working out what fabrics to use, I noticed that the paisley fabric had all the right colours on it's own! Add the grey and voila!
I wanted to imitate the flowers, given that they provide most of the colour, and decided to stick to the classic hexy flower. That and I already had the template and papers! Plus I could fussy cut the paisley... The final Presidential Debate and then Saturday Night Live (via Hulu Japan) saw it sewn together, and for now, it just waits. I may add something more to it, or make some more to make a Japanese travels cushion... We'll see!

If I do add anything to it, it'll be a light blue to match the sky. I still remember that day - the most perfect spring weather with a clear, sunny sky and a cool breeze.
See what the rest of this week's hoppers have stitched!
